About U Farm

We bring a multi-lens perspective to sustainability challenges — helping schools cultivate critical thinkers and agribusinesses navigate complex market landscapes with confidence.

Our Philosophy

Empathy First

We listen and learn about what you need before we help you find a solution. Understanding what you’re feeling, what you’re facing, and what you need shapes every decision we make.

Built On Partnership

We don’t do things for you; we do them with you, whether that’s brainstorming a market strategy or designing a CSR workshop. True collaboration means shared goals and investment in outcomes we create together.

Stewardship Over Speed

We’re here for the long haul. That means caring for what we’ve been trusted with, thinking beyond the next harvest, and leaving things better than we found them.

Who We Are

Most consultants and educators come from one world. Darren has worked across three — agriculture, education, and government policy — and that changes everything.

Whether you’re a school developing students’ understanding of food security or an agribusiness navigating Singapore’s regulatory landscape, you need someone who understands how policy shapes practice, how industry realities inform strategy, and how education creates lasting change.

Darren translates insights across stakeholder languages because he’s sat at those different tables. From developing Clean & Green standards to conducting workshops for over 100 schools, from managing commercial farm operations to mentoring youth sustainability initiatives, his experience spans the entire ecosystem.

About Our Founder

Our founder Darren Tan’s farming experience began in 2015 on a World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) programme in southern Spain. He then joined local hydroponics rooftop farm ComCrop as Head of Education and Community Outreach for five years, conducting workshops and tours for more than 100 schools and organisations.

As a former MOE educator of seven years and current Associate Lecturer at Republic Polytechnic Singapore, teaching is close to Darren’s heart. He has worked with students from Hwa Chong International, Nanyang Girls’ High, Geylang Methodist Secondary School, and Grace Orchard School, among others.

Darren is also involved in several national sustainability efforts, including the YSEALI Professional Fellowship, Our Singapore Leaders Programme, MSE-NYC Youth Circle, and Youth Action Challenge mentorship. He recently completed the Leading Sustainable Corporations Programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, and is completing his Executive MBA.

When you work with U Farm, you’re working with a team who knows what regulators are thinking, what farmers actually need, and what makes education stick —

and who genuinely cares about building Singapore’s sustainable future through collaborative partnerships that create lasting impact.
